Namaskaram everybody! This is Vaibhav(founder), from Piso Skateboards :) How is everybody doing? Welcome back to the founder series. If you have not read the previous articles you can read it here. So in today's topic I will be sharing my journey with injuries and how Piso Skateboards was an outcome of one of my severe ankle injury :)
As we all know injuries are a very common part of skateboarding. A lot of skaters give up on skateboarding due to their injuries. I have personally broken bones and ankles a couple of times. In my skateboarding journey, injuries have taught one of the greatest lessons of my life and transformed me in various positive ways.
So while recovering any injury, usually you will be mostly sitting on bed for weeks/months unable to do any activity. When injured, the only company you have around is you. There is no one around and nothing else you can do when injured. As scary as this sounds, it teaches you something beautiful about yourself and life. It's tough to express it in words but it makes you realize how small you are, your egos, your stupid definition of success, your conclusions and much more.
At first the injury and bed-rest feels frustrating. Then it reaches a point where you are like 'you are never going to touch your board again!'. Just ahead of this point lies the magic. You suddenly start realizing how tender and beautiful this life is. We have taken so many things for granted around us - our relations, our life, this nature, this air that we breath which keeps us alive, this sun and the whole cosmos keeping us alive. The race for survival blinds us so much that we miss out on these tiny and crucial aspects of life. We take it so lightly that we have to break our bones - sit at one place - get frustrated - and theennnnnn realize that how small and tender life we all are.
Since birth we have unnecessarily complicated the simplicity of life through various influences, competitions and conclusions. Unless you take a break or are forced to take a break from daily routines(in my case due to injuries etc etc) it does not strike you. In the quest to achieve something, or to become so called successful we loose this simple yet beautiful nature of life.
Its funny to say that the reason Piso exists today is because of my injuries!. I used to be injured for almost half of the year due to skateboarding. Mostly bed ridden or sitting on the skateboard and trying to teleport from one room to the other :D. In boredom since I could not skate out nor could I walk much, I started researching on how to make skateboards, and today it led to Piso Skateboards. Reallyy! you never know at times what you identify as a downfall might lead you to something beautiful which you never imagined.
Piso Skateboards was/is just a tiny little outcome of my injuries which I am really grateful for. BUT... the most beautiful outcome of my injuries is my inner growth and balance :). It has helped me immensely internally and changed my perspective. Initially I was always after doing so called great things shown by the society with full stress and hardwork, today I am relearning how to do small-small things in life with great joy :). Thank you life & Thank you Skateboarding. I hope skateboarding touches everyone's inner life and growth in the ways you could not have imagined.

Namaskaram everybody! This is Vaibhav from Piso Skateboards. So the topic for today's episode is- 'Skateboarding, a journey to the beyond'. Most of the people get in this sports thinking it's cool, or because of the hype built around it. Some get fam, some don't, some get sponsored, some do not, some make their life out of it, others dream about it and the list goes on. Why is it that, when this sport gets into mind you are willing to do whatever it takes to stay with it. Have personally heard loads of stories from people across the globe on how they just cant live without skateboarding being part of their life :)
