In today's topic we will cover how to carry your skateboard in a flight airport safely. We will look into 2 aspects while covering this topic. One is that your skateboard should not get stolen away while in transit & secondly should not grab much attention while travelling. At times attention does get annoying and in a country like India, its better to go low key at airports for smoother hassle free travel.
So the first thing is dismantle the trucks from the complete skateboard by unscrewing the 8 nuts & bolts mounted on the skateboard deck. Put the truck-wheelset combo separately in your check-in luggage. The deck which remains, if it fits in a luggage bag then great if not then take a shoe lace/rope and slide it in the holes of the deck. Tie the deck to one of your luggage firmly. If you happen to carry any kind of tape, better to tape it along for better stability while in transit. Finally you will be having the truck set in your check in luggage safe, and the deck tied up/taped to a luggage bag.
By following the above process, your trucks-wheelset combo is definitely safe as its packed in the luggage. And it's very unlikely that someone will steal only the deck of the skateboard tied on your luggage bag. You can also ask at the counter if you can take just the deck in your hand in the cabin luggage. At times they allow, at times they do not.
